The folks over at the Image Sensors World blog have posted a preview of next year’s International Solid-State Circuits Conference, scheduled to be held in San Francisco, CA next February. Based on a newly published advance program for the conference, the Image Sensors World article highlights some of the image sensor designs to be described during a session chaired by Shoji Kawahito of Japan’s Shizuoka University, and JungChak Ahn of Korea’s Samsung Electronics. Japan’s Ichikawa Soft Laboratory has released the latest versions of itsSILKYPIX Developer Studio v4.0Raw processing software in both standard and Pro variants. The new releases finalize the previous Release Candidate version seen a little over a month ago, which added support for several Foveon image sensor-based digital cameras. We’ve just posted a full set of test shots taken with the Sony A550 digital SLR camera. The Alpha A550 is based around a 14-megapixel Sony Exmor CMOS image sensor, with ISO sensitivity ranging from a minimum of 200 to a maximum of 12,800 equivalent. Panasonic has released updated firmware for its Micro Four Thirds-format DMC-GF1 camera body, as well as five of its Micro Four Thirds lenses. Panasonic Lumix GF1 firmware v1.1 enables manual focus assist with MF-only lenses are attached, accessed by pressing the camera’s rear dial with the camera set through the custom menu to allow shooting without a lens.
