Olympus SP-720: New Ultrazoom digicam offers 26x zoom

Launching a slew of camera models that–while they debuted alongside the Consumer Electronics Show–aren't slated for US availability, Olympus Europe launched the Olympus SP-720UZ.

Closely related to the SP-620UZ, one of the models being alongside which it was announced that will be shipping in the US, the SP-720UZ differs from the other camera in several important ways. Its image sensor is a slightly lower-res but much faster 14 megapixel CMOS chip, capable of shooting at seven frames per second for as many as eight frames. Sony Adds Ultra-high-speed Interface Compatibility to Its Line of SD Media

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Jan. 13, 2012 – At CES 2012, Sony announced it is expanding its line of SD cards with a new flagship series designed for ultra-high speed interface (UHS-I) compatibility, giving DSLR users superb speed and high performance. The new cards are available in capacities of 32GB (SF-32UX), 16GB (SF-16UX) and 8GB (SF-8UX).

Sony W650, W620, W610: Three new Cyber-shots for the entry-level

Sony Electronics Inc. has introduced three new entry-level Cyber-shot cameras for its W-series at the Consumer Electronics Show: the Sony W650, Sony W620, and Sony W610.

Of the trio, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W610 is the most affordable, at just US$110 or thereabouts. This model couples a 14.1 megapixel, Sony Super HAD CCD image sensor, and a Sony-branded, unstabilized 4x optical zoom lens with f/2.8 to f/5.9 maximum aperture across the zoom range. There's also a 2.7-inch LCD display, VGA Motion JPEG movie mode, SD card storage, and power from a proprietary lithium ion battery pack….

Adobe Rebrands Carousel as Revel

Adobe has announced it is rebranding Adobe Carousel as Adobe Revel. The company plans to offer additional photography solutions on the platform in the future, so the new branding more broadly encompasses these offerings.

According to the Photoshop.com blog, current users will see the name of the app change when they update. Revel 1.1 features “some minor fixes,” including imports from the Camera Roll on your iPhone and iPad and photo sharing via Flickr.

Adobe said the word “carousel” won't be entirely retired, however. It will still be used to refer to a library of photos within…
